'FRIENDS ARE THE FAMILY YOU CHOOSE

↳ JESS C. SCOTT

During your school years you're generally surrounded by lots of your peers. In that space, you may feel like everyone's your mate. Or you may feel a little lost in the crowd.

After school, your social circles can change a lot. Some friends you keep in close touch with. Others, you may drift from. It can be tough navigating that change. And it's ok to feel sad about it.

Many of us really 'find our people' in the years after school. They may be new friends we meet at uni or work. They may be people we meet in an online community. They may even be friends we've known the whole way through, since we were kids. It's not about the number of friends you have. It's about finding those quality relationships. One or two trustworthy people you feel safe with can be one of the biggest supports as you discover your road.

TOP TIP ↴

What do you think makes a good friend? Someone who listens? Someone you can laugh with? Someone reliable?

Take a moment to think of your own answers to this question. And then, be the kind of friend you want to make. Living out your values can play a big role in the kind of friendships you end up forming.

Our friends change throughout life, but it's never too late to make a new one.
